Internal mixers do have a wide range of benefits in friction material production. They allow design and production of high filled mixes in short process times. Using internal mixers is the only way to prepare mixes for cold pressing units. This allows economical production of high volume parts in short fixed cycles. With these mix types hot pressing problems like cracks from degassing can be reduced and complicated pressing cycles can be avoided. Formulations with high ruber contents can be preformed at ambient temperatures to improve material distribution in hot pressing difficult shapes. Granulation prevents raw material separation within the mixes during transport or dosage.
